Beláková A; Smetana V; Selected groups of Hymenoptera (Hymenoptera, Apocrita) from the environs of the future nuclear power plant at Mochovce (Slovakia) 3-13
Abstract: Presented are the results of a species composition of Hymenoptera (wasps, solitary bees and bumble-bees) from 15 selected localities in the environs of the nuclear power plant Mochovce. The authors found 9 species of wasps, 51 species of solitary bees and 17 species of bumblebees. An finding interesting from the entomogeographical aspect, is that of rare species of bees Osmia xanthomeleana (Megachilidae).

Cyprich D; Krumpál M; Kutsenko T; Poslavskiy A; Fauna of birds' nests (Aves) of the Kemerovo region (Russia) with stress on fleas (Siphonaptera) 15-25
Abstract: In 1991, 57 bird nests belonging to three ecological groups (species building nests in hollows, tree tops and bushes and in holes) were collected at Kemerovo and its environs (Western Siberia), out of which a total of 2213 invertebrate specimens were extracted. A survey of the various systematic groups is given in Tab. 1. Three main groups were determined: Ixodidae, Heteroptera, Siphonaptera. Stress is laid on the taxonomic position and lack of clarity of the flea genus Ceratophyllus of the gallinae group (Fig. l, 2).

Košel V; Martinovský J; Tipulidae (Insecta, Diptera) from the caves in the Western Carpathians (Slovakia) 27-34
Abstract: In the West-Carpathian caves in Slovakia we obtained, mostly in 1985-1993, a total of 16 imagoes of Tipulidae belonging to 9 taxons. Most of the specimens were of the Tipula scripta species (4 specimens). Live specimens were found in June, July and August, perished ones in January, July, August and October. The sex ratio was 9 MM to 6 FF, in 4 species both sexes were found. Crane-flies in caves were found up to a distance of 40 m at most from the entrance, just a short way beyond the limit of the aphotic zone. In the euphotic zone, females prevailed (5:2), while males predominated in the disphotic and aphotic zones (7 : 1). Air temperature at the sites of occurrence of crane-flies ranged from 4.7° to 12.2° C and humidity amounted to 70 - 100 %. Crane-flies were found more frequently and in larger numbers in caves with a large entrance, rather than with a small or a concealed one. We assume that their penetration into caves is a resultant of a favourable coincidence of their ecological claims on the external environment and the cave’s climatic conditions.

Krno I; Illéšová D; Halgoš J; Temporal fauna of the Gidra brook (Little Carpathians, Slovakia) 35-46
Abstract: The authors present the results of hydrobiological study of the Gidra brook (Little Carpathians) in the period 1988-1992. The subject of study were zoobenthic species of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Diptera (Simuliidae). 17 species of Ephemeroptera were found. The most remarkable of 20 species of Plecoptera were the findings of Leuctra albida and Leuctra braueri, further Isoperla oxylepis and the species of the genus Perla (P. burmeisteriana and P. marginata). 30 Trichoptera species were found, the occurrences of Synagapetus moselyi, Micrasema minimum and Plectrocnemia breuis were interesting. Among 12 species of Simuliidae, the most considerable was the finding of an abundant population of a species very rare in Slovakia - Simulium degrangei. With respect to these results, the authors propose to declare the upper part of the Gidra brook strictly protected aquatic biotope.

Stloukal E; Matis D; A new morphological type of peritrich ciliates and a description of Bezedniella prima n g., n. sp. (Peritricha, Ciliophora) 79-82
Abstract: A sessile peritrich, Bezedniella prima n. g., n. sp., is described from the freshwater Ostracoda of the genus Cypria. This species differs from all other species of subclass Peritricha STEIN, 1848 except for Nuechterleinella corneliae MATTHES, 1990. Only these two species have a laterally shifted peristome, not parallel with the main body axis. With regard to the fact that the newly described species has a branched stalk, it cannot be coordinated into genus Nuechterleinella MATTHES, 1990, but belongs to an independent genus Bezedniella n. g.

Szentiványi M; Tirjaková E; The structure and dynamics of the community of Ciliophora in the benthos of the Karlova Ves (Bratislava) branch of the Danube 83-102
Abstract: In the course of the years 1991-1992, the species spectrum, seasonal dynamics of abundance and biomass, and the representation of trophic groups of Ciliophora were traced in the dead branch of the Danube (1876.6 km), which changes its character from flowing to non-flowing during the year. Altogether 80 species of Ciliophora, 5 of them new to the fauna of Slovakia, were found here. A large variation in the percentage representation of bacteriovore species and the trophic importance of bacteriovore and omnivore species in the given biotope was found.
